Soča Valley is a paradise for lovers of cycling. Everyone who appreciates nature will definitely come into their own here.
Cycling in the Posočje region involves few paved cycling routes. Well, there’s a stretch of asphalt here and there. For the most part, however, you’ll cycle on gravel roads, through forests, along rivers, between waterfalls and up hills – in short, wherever there’s fresh air to breathe, far away from the urban environment. CYCLING IN SLOVENIA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL VALLEY – THE SOČA VALLEY
The Soča Valley is a true paradise for lovers of cycling. Come to Labrca and rent a bike or book a guided cycling tour along the Soča, Idrijca or Nadiža rivers. You can also choose from numerous marked cycling routes in the local mountains. We provide well-maintained mountain bikes, as well as e-bikes, which are becoming increasingly popular. Thanks to all this, cycling in the Soča Valley will be a real joy.
In the Tolmin area there’s a number of cycling routes of varying difficulty. If you’re looking for panoramic rides and nature to admire, head towards Kobarid. Ride through the centre of Tolmin and continue on the old road, past the idyllic villages stretching along the way. Right before Kobarid, you’ll find the Napoleon Bridge, perched above the emerald blue Soča River, which will definitely take your breath away. Be sure to make a stop at the Kozjak Waterfall, another beautiful natural landmark that will enchant you. If you prefer a leisurely family ride, you should certainly head towards the village Slap ob Idrijci, where you can enjoy swimming. This trip is also largely free of motor traffic, so you can observe the locals and their way of life from your saddle. Once there, you can take a dip in a natural swimming pool in the Idrijca River. If you’re brave enough, you can even jump into the pool from an 11-metre high bridge. Take the same road back to Tolmin, or cross to the other bank of the Idrijca River and loop back to your starting point. There are several options for those who have more cycling experience and want something a bit more demanding. One of our suggestions is to cycle up to Kolovrat, where you can visit an open-air museum. From there you can descend down the other side of the mountain all the way to Kobarid, then continue along the old road to reach Labrce. Another interesting cycling trip takes you to Javorca. For most of the way, the road runs through the Triglav National Park, where you can enjoy exceptional natural surroundings and tranquillity. When you reach the parking lot, park your bike and continue on foot to the Church of the Holy Spirit, a sight which is not to be missed. Those who still have energy left can continue their trip and cycle to the source of the Tolminka River, then return to Labrca. Cycling in the Soča Valley is fascinating, fun and inspiring. Welcome!
