The Maya travel agency (based in Tolmin, Slovenia) was founded in 1998 with the aim of becoming the first travel agency in the Soča Basin area to offer all-inclusive services in the field of activity holidays. And we have achieved this aim. We are registered with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia as No 828 (incoming activity) and No 829 (outgoing activity). Our team of 26 professionally trained experts and tourism enthusiasts (full-time staff, contract staff and students) is dedicated to providing the best service possible. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, over 97% of our clients rated us as "my/our top holiday" in a survey. In 2006 the BBC filmed the activities of the Maya Outdoor Centre for its Holiday programme and included us among its six most attractive world destinations.

Today MAYA travel agency includes four different brands covering different fields:

The Outdoor Centre brand looks after the organisation of individual and group one-day adventure experiences (rafting, mini-rafting, kayaking, canyoning, hydrospeed, cycling, trekking, etc.) and also arranges picnics for groups using our services.

The Team Spirit brand organises and implements a variety of team-based or conference-based activities (incentive programmes and team-building programmes, workshops and seminars, business events, etc.).

The Slovenia Experience brand looks after all visitors wishing to spend an activity holiday in Slovenia. It devises and organises a variety of programmes and packages for families and individuals.

WHY "MAYA"?

Because MAYA in Greek means relaxation, and because we believe that you are not only looking for excitement but also for slightly different ways to relax. Even the MAYA logo tells a story.

M represents the mountains and hills that surround us in the Tolmin Basin and the Soča Valley, where most of our activities take place.
A represents a cave, with the yellow patch in the middle denoting the cave entrance. Caves are plentiful here in the limestone rock of the Soča Valley. In Mala Boka, for instance, local and foreign cavers are trying to break the world vertical record.
Y represents the confluence of two rivers, the Soča and the Tolminka, which meet close to the MAYA Centre in Tolmin.
A represents the waterfalls and canyons of the Tolmin area (Brinta, Gregorčičev Slap, Beri, Sopota, Mrzli Potok, Peršjak and more), which offer unique one-day excursions and are also ideal for canyoning.
